Karen Verheul's story is a bit unique. If it wasn't for her training at Steve Nash Coquitlam, she might not have been able to recover from a freak injury.
Karen had been a long-time member at Steve Nash Coquitlam, working out with Personal Trainer and Fitness Manager, Daniel.
To backtrack, Karen had been inactive in 2016. She was stressed at work, struggled with her weight, and was low-energy, all the time.
When she realized she needed to make a change, she started indoor cycling and purchased Personal Training with Daniel.
Over time, she lost 90 pounds and started doing things she never thought she could: weightlifting, strength training, etc.
Her life had completely changed for the better, to the point where she was able to go rock climbing, paddle boarding, aerial skill classes, and so much more.
She was on an amazing road to fitness... until one day, she was just unlucky.

"My medical team told me that I was... very healthy and very fit. I was told that the normal recovery period is usually six months or more for this type of surgery."
"Daniel called me the morning after my surgery and kept in touch with me the following two weeks before I returned to the gym. I had to use a walker for the first two weeks and saw my family Doctor to have my staples removed before I could work out."
Because she was so healthy and fit, her muscles were able to keep everything in place, allowing her to recover and return to the gym very quickly.
That's when she got even stronger than before.
"I'm doing really well. There's nothing I can't do now that I was able to do before my surgery. In fact, in many ways, I am even stronger and my range of motion has improved significantly. During my recovery I have also focused on stretching... that has made a huge difference. Thanks again to Daniel's direction."
