There are currently so many different training methods out there, that It can be overwhelming when deciding which method is best for you based off of your personal fitness goals.
Once you have a clear goal in mind, then you are able to start planning what style is best for you!
What is HIIT?
“High Intensity Interval Training” is a form of exercise that incorporates bursts of “all out effort” followed by short recovery periods.
- Burning a high number of calories in a short period of time
- Increasing your metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn calories)
- Great for weight/fat loss
- Can be used to increase strength
I refer to HIIT as that one stop shop. If you are tired of working out on a piece of cardio equipment (treadmill, elliptical, etc..), or you are short on time and want to utilize your time wisely while in the gym, then this is for you. HIIT allows you to work on cardiovascular endurance, while incorporating weights to help increase strength.
Where can I go to try out a HIIT style class?
You’re in luck! We have different HIIT options for you to try!
A Group Fitness class is a great place to start. One option is TABATA. Touted as “the world’s greatest fat burning workout”, TABATA is a simple yet effective interval training technique designed to boost the body’s calorie burning mechanisms. This is a great form of HIIT that incorporates tools such as the step, and dumbbells in this fun 55-minute class.
Another option is our small group personal training “GT12”. This is a circuit style class taught in smaller groups. You will use multiple difference pieces of equipment and modalities. Classes are constantly changing and you can expect almost every class to be different!
