Things You Didn't Know About GT12

  • You know cardio is good for the heart, but just cannot stand any of the cardio machines?

If you said YES, to any of the above, then GT12 is for you!

But wait, I hear what you’re saying, what is GT12?

I’m glad you asked, because here at Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Clubs, we are EXCITED about this new, small group training program ran by our very own Personal Trainers, that are now being offered at every single one of our locations!

These are 50-minute sessions that include 12 total body functional training and cardio based exercises.

The GT12 instructor goes through how each exercise is performed with proper form, and provides you with regressions to make it easier, or progressions to challenge you further. They take you through a fun, dynamic warm-up that gets the body moving and ready to go!

You complete each of the 12 exercise stations in 45 seconds, then rest for 20 seconds as your work through the entire circuit! Depending on the session, you’d complete 2-3 rounds of all 12 exercises. Ending each session would be 1 or 2 group challenges like a tug-o-war or group plank or burpee challenge!

Now, imagine upbeat music that gets the whole group pumped up and excited as they sweat through each station, TOGETHER!

What’s the difference between GT12 and the Group Fitness Classes?

With GT12, there is a variety of equipment and exercises included! We use everything from kettlebells, TRX, dumbbells, barbells, Bulgarian bag, battle ropes, medicine balls, stability balls, assault bikes, AND MORE! The list is endless as the programs are ever changing each month!

Throughout your GT12 session, the instructor walks around, looking out for anyone that needs assistance or feedback on form/technique. So yes, the exercises can be more challenging than what you’d see at your Group Fitness Class.

Our GT12 sessions definitely give you a taste of what it’s like to be trained by a Personal Trainer and how they may set up a program to keep you moving better! We ensure that each GT12 program puts the body through different ranges of motion.

GT12 and the group fitness classes are both cardio based, however, members that take GT12 can choose to lift heavier weights than your typical group fitness class. There is also more variety in movement patterns and exercises in GT12!

You can find GT12 out on the gym floor while Group Fitness classes are found inside the Group Fitness studio.

How many calories do I burn during GT12?

You can burn as much as 1200 calories or more by taking 3 classes per week! 

If I’m a beginner in exercise, will GT12 work for me?

I would recommend talking to the Personal Trainer leading the class beforehand so that they can keep an eye on you during your first class. At the end of the day, we care most about making this safe and fun for our members. Our personal trainers can then advise on how to make some of the exercises simpler if needed. However, GT12 doesn’t replace the benefits you get from one on one personal training for rehabilitation, correcting imbalances or understanding proper movement patterns. At the end of your class, the Personal Trainer leading the class can schedule some one on one sessions to get a personalized program set up so that you’re able to better perform key movements in the GT12 program!

What if I’ve had a Personal Trainer in the past or am more intermediate/advanced in exercise?

Honestly, you’ll enjoy it because our Personal Trainers will always have the progressions if needed to make it more challenging. Our very own personal training staff take the classes as well because this is such a well-rounded program that is also FUN!

It’s normal for everyone to stick to a bit of their own routine, so GT12 can change things up for you and get you moving in ways you normally don't! We love incorporating balance, power, strength, endurance, core and cardio exercises that can challenge anyone!
