We’ve reached out to recent graduates from the British Columbia Personal Training Institute (BCPTI) to share their experiences from the seven-week program and guaranteed job placement with #TeamSNFC.
Here’s what our BCPTI Graduates and now Personal Trainers had to say:

Gemma, Personal Trainer, Downtown Sports Club:
BCPTI and its highly enthusiastic, skilled educators (Chad and Shelley) are the main contributing factors in both my confidence and success in the industry and with Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Club. I am passionate about sharing my experience at BCPTI because it was so positive.
Having struggled through school from a very young age, I generally had difficulty learning, focusing and completing homework. The BCPTI program covered industry relevant topics, including cutting edge education, with a hands-on approach. The experience went well beyond what most certifications are offering their students.
The daytime course was taught predominantly by Chad Benson – his passion for education and his commitment to motivating others makes him one of the best teachers I have ever had. I got to connect with and shadow other personal trainers, and learn more about my opportunities after graduation. After passing the NASM exam on my first attempt, the transition between graduation and job placement was seamless.
“I am excited about the opportunity to continue learning new skills relevant to my career and hope to inspire others to do the same.”
Lilian, Personal Trainer, North Shore Fitness World:
Coming from a dance background, I never imagined that my career would include lifting weights, let alone deadlifting with a barbell. As my pursuit of dance expanded my horizon to pilates and yoga, working out in the gym quickly followed.
I first stepped inside SNFC while looking for a new gym to workout at, but I quickly developed the idea of becoming a Personal Trainer. I was looking for meaningful work that would allow me to follow my passion and stay fit.
When I visited BCPTI, I had a chance encounter with Chad, who is extremely knowledgeable in the field and has trained many successful Olympic athletes. Little did I know that I would meet even more amazing mentors on my journey of becoming a Personal Trainer, including Brian Truong, Shelley Sheren and Kyle Bruce.
Now, as a Personal Trainer, I am constantly learning from my team and through continuous education at SNFC. My clients truly motivate me to come to work every day. We laugh and sweat through our workout sessions. It is always a joy to see the smiles on their faces as their get closer to their goals, feel stronger and healthier, and share the compliments they’ve received. So, did I mention meaningful work?
