Success Story: How Param Learned Fitness is a Lifestyle, Not a Short-Term Goal

Old habits die hard, but sometimes change is necessary in order to live a better life.

Param had an unhealthy relationship with food for as long as she can remember. When the stresses of school and studying took over, she turned to stress eating. When she went out with friends, she found she would overeat and make poor choices. 

Exercise was also not a priority in her life. While she would exercise on and off, it wasn't nearly enough to see the results she was hoping for. When she looked in the mirror, she didn't like what she saw. It would leave her feeling anxious, overwhelmed and ashamed. She knew that her life wasn't meant to be lived this way, and knew change was necessary.

She stepped into the Steve Nash Surrey Fitness World location with the goal of turning her life around. She signed-up for a goal assessment to see where she was starting from. 

I had a quick assessment of where I was at, where I wanted to be and how was going to get there. From that day on, I went to gym and gave it 100% at each of my workouts while training with my personal trainer.

Armed with the support of her trainer, Perry H, Param set goals that were difficult enough to chase, but not impossible to achieve. After 2 years of hard work and consistency, she was able to cross off a big goal from her list; she entered and completed the Tough Mudder Race.

Param credits her trainer as a major influence on her life and helping her stay on her fitness program and continue to reach her goals.

My fitness trainer has made every workout fun and exciting and encourages me to be better every time. He has taught me how to be the most efficient and productive I can possibly be in each of my workouts. He also made sure that I understood the difference between health, fitness and "dieting:. He has me focusing on nutrition as a fuel for the body, and has taught me to be smart about my choices and consider how it can affect my mood, activity and results.

Param is continuing on her fitness journey today. She continues to find ways to make the gym fun and exciting with the help of her trainer and has learned that fitness is a lifestyle, not a short term goal. She is constantly setting and achieving new goals, with no end in sight.
