As the year comes to a close, we like to look back on the past twelve months and reminisce!
We ask ourselves questions like:
- What were we proud of?
- What were our favourite moments or memories?
- How can we improve, to make things bigger and better for our members and guests next year?
During that process, a few fond memories popped up.
Here are our Top 10 Favourite SNFC Moments from 2018 (in chronological order):
(F)EMPOWER: Our 2nd Annual International Women's Day Event
This was our second year hosting an International Women's Day Event at our clubs. It was held at our Downtown Sports Club location on March 8th. We held specialty group fitness classes, and hosted guest speakers from RYU, Recovery Gangster, Juicery Co, and Union Swimwear. We had pop-up shops, snacks, a live DJ, and more! The event was well received by everyone who attended, and we can't wait to start planning something exciting for next year!
Lonsdale Grand Opening
On March 10th, we held the grand opening party for our newest and 23rd club location, Lonsdale Fitness World!
As usual, we had healthy snacks, vendors, prizes, deals on new memberships and supplements, and much, much more. It was a busy, yet successful day for our team!
You can catch some of the stunning views from this club in our video re-cap of the grand opening above.
BMO Vancouver Marathon
Every year, our team at SNFC is the Official Fitness Sponsor of the BMO Vancouver Marathon. This year on May 6th was no different. The sun even decided to show up, and show Vancouver off beautifully to the runners visiting from out of town.
Our video highlight is above!
On May 9th, SNFC hosted an event called #SNFCRideDontHide at all 23 of our clubs, simultaneously! This event was in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association, and their annual Ride Don't Hide event.
The goal was to get people talking about mental health–so if you're riding, you're not hiding.
We asked our members and guests to openly ride a bike in plain sight (on the street, in some cases!) to try to change the stigma around mental health, and at the same time, raise funds for mental health programs and services in our communities.
In doing so, we promised to donate $10 for every KM ridden to the Canadian Mental Health Association, up to a maximum of $10,000.

eGym was Rolled out at Morgan Crossing Sports Club
We chose Morgan Crossing Sports Club as our test location for a new line of intelligent strength training machines called eGym. The eGym solution is a cloud-connected system that combines intelligent software with the latest fitness equipment to provide our members with a training experience that is easy to use, fun, and motivating.
We hope you will check it out. You can even help regulate your blood sugar using these machines–ask us how!
KitsFest and Spin by the Sea
We were so worried about the weather on the day of KitsFest. So much so, that we thought we had to cancel all of our free fitness classes! But the weather pulled through, and we were able to have an amazing day filled with cycling classes, and we even debuted our new Axle Full Body class!
Check out a few of the highlights in the above video, and some of the photos here.
Lake to Lake Ride for the Kids
On August 19, nine of our staff members journeyed from Morgan Crossing Sports Club, all the way down to Cape Meares, Oregon, in support of the Michael Cuccione Foundation. Seven of the nine were on bikes, the others rode in a support vehicle.
The entire journey was 586km, and took four whole days. Catch the video recap above, and read more about the initiative in this article.
Our 1st SNFC Influencer Event
This year, we made the decision to take on more SNFC Brand Ambassadors, and invited a group of Social Media Influencers to special event at the Vancouver Museum for a combination workout that included Axle Full Body, Le Barre, and some No Stress Stretch. The sun was shining perfectly at this gorgeous venue, and we couldn't have been more excited to welcome more ambassadors into the SNFC family. Check out more of the photos here!
We Gave Away a Car!
Back in September, we ran a campaign to give away a car. Any non-member who signed up for a Free 7 Day Pass, and any member who participated in our Scratch & Win campaign could qualify for entries. In the video above, eight finalists try their luck at opening the car, but only one person has the correct key.
Congratulations to the extremely excited Andrew Coffey, who won a 2018 Ford Focus from Cam Clark Ford in Richmond!
We Introduced GT12 Small Group Training
For 2019, we decided it was time for something new. And GT12 is what's new!
Launching in January, this program is available exclusively at Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Club, is created by fitness experts, and designed around the Power of 12. You can expect a 45-minute circuit workout of interval-style training, that uses 12 different stations and pieces of equipment. Check it out here to learn more! And make sure to sign up before January 2019!
