Holiday Group Fitness Challenge: Win a Yoga Mat!

While the season of giving brings the joy and excitement of festivities, family gatherings, special meals, and generous gifts, all those extras on an already time-pressured culture can result in a major spike in stress. Unfortunately, one of the first things to go when we get crazy-busy is the one thing that can help us maintain sanity–our workouts!

To counter all the excess, both in terms of balancing calories and relieving stress, keeping up with your fitness regime is more valuable than ever this month.

Here are a few tips on how to stay true to your workouts in order to thrive and not just survive the typical casualty of the holiday season:

  1. Be realistic with your time.

    Don’t have a full hour? Rather than skip your workout entirely, opt for a quicky. At SN Clubs we have many 30 and 45min class options such as 3D Core, and 45min spin classes to get your sweat on, while efficiently getting in and out within an hour.

  2. Choose to just stretch and breathe.

    Maybe a full-on sweat isn’t what you need on a particular day. An increasing body of research shows that simply breathing deeply and stretching tense muscles is of significant benefit in terms of stress management and overall mental well-being. Choose mind/body formats such as YIN Yoga, Pilates, and No Stress Stretch.

  3. Keep it social.

    Rather than another social engagement with eggnog and chocolate hedgehogs, consider making your gathering more active in nature. This might be an outdoor adventure like snow shoeing or ice-skating, or take it indoors with a buddy and try one of our super fun unique classes such as Surf + Sand (with the SurfSET board and Sandbells), Sticks + Stones (with the TRX Rip Trainer and kettlebells), or Flying Fitness (Yoga performed in suspended hammocks from the ceiling).
