How can HIIT be more effective for some fitness goals vs. regular weightlifting?

There are currently so many different training methods out there, that It can be overwhelming when deciding which method is best for you based off of your personal fitness goals.

Once you have a clear goal in mind, then you are able to start planning what style is best for you!

High intensity interval training can be great! What is HIIT?

“High Intensity Interval Training” is a form of exercise that incorporates bursts of “all out effort” followed by short recovery periods.

Benefits include:

  • Burning a high number of calories in a short period of time
  • Increasing your metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn calories)
  • Great for weight/fat loss
  • Can be used to increase strength

I refer to HIIT as that one stop shop. If you are tired of working out on a piece of cardio equipment (treadmill, elliptical, etc..), or you are short on time and want to utilize your time wisely while in the gym, then this is for you. HIIT allows you to work on cardiovascular endurance, while incorporating weights to help increase strength.
