Have you ever had that day where you really don't want to go work out? It's raining, you haven't had enough coffee, or you were up late watching your favourite weeknight TV show.
Whatever your reason, it's important to have some tactics in place to get you motivated and to that indoor cycling class you booked yesterday.
1. Pump up song.
Your theme song might be some hard core punk tunes, or a sassy beat that makes you just want to dance (cue Demi Lovato's Sorry not Sorry).
When you have a few songs that you know will get you out of our seat, it makes it so much easier to get yourself to the class, your personal training session or that gym date.
2. A workout buddy.
Speaking of gym dates, having a workout buddy holds you accountable. Take time each week to look at your schedules together and find a few classes where you can ride together.
When you have a date, it's hard to let the other person down and not show. What if they then decide not to go either? Their fitness goals have then been impacted - how could you do that to them?!
3. Visible goals.
By this, we mean goals that you can actually see – photos, a poster, or sticky notes. Whatever gives you those little cues to remind you why you're doing it, make sure you see it often!
- Lose 10lbs by October
- Take 3 indoor cycling classes per week
- Half 1/2 plate of vegetables for each lunch and dinner
Remember, make sure your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, time constrained).
4. A schedule.
You know the easiest way to derail a workout? By not scheduling it into your calendar, along with all of you other commitments, life can pile up.
If you have a clear picture of what your day will look like, you can manage your time to ensure you make it to that class (and time for a quick cup of coffee before to CRUSH the workout).
5. A pre-workout.
If you're not into the pre-workouts, a good ole' cup of coffee or an espresso shot can also do the trick!
